We have changed the name of my company to reflect the growth we’ve had. The 3 of us, Myself, Matt and Rose, look forward to continuing to work with all of our clients.
Note: we’ve had some phone issues with voicemail. If you haven’t heard back from us, we’re still here but your voicemail didn’t get to us. It has been repaired but give us a call if we missed you.
The tax credit for energy efficient improvements to your home is back for 2022. Per Kiplinger 10/7/22 it applies to 10% of the cost of certain types of insulation plus external windows, doors and skylights. The credit also includes 100% of the cost of electric heat pumps and water heaters and some air conditioning systems. There is a lifetime credit limitation of $500 and furnaces, hot water heaters limit their credit to $150. I’m not sure how you can say 100% of some costs when it’s capped at $500 – we’ll see when the form comes out. The credit is increased for 2023 thru 2032.
The kiddie tax has changed for 2022. The first $1,150 of unearned income of a child under the age of 19, under age 24 if a full-time student, is tax free. The next $1,150 is taxed at the child’s rate. Any excess is taxed at the parent’s rate.
The lifetime estate and gift tax exemption for 2022 is $12,060,000. The annual gift tax exclusion is $16,000 for 2022. You can give $16,000 to each person without having to file a gift tax return or tap your lifetime exemption.
The standard mileage rate for business driving is higher and splits in 2022. The rate is 58.5 cents for the first half of 2022 and 62.5 cents for the second half.
Remember you have until April 15, 2023 to contribute to an IRA for 2022 if you qualify.
Did You Know??? There is a ‘pirate stock exchange’ in Somalia where locals can invest in pirate gangs planning hijacking missions. Google
